Silver and Crystal and China, Oh My!
A little effort means I care. This is my philosophy when inviting friends to my home and no matter the size or the setting, it all begins with creating a thoughtful environment.

When my friend suggested we wear black and pearls for our traditional Election Day luncheon, I extended her aesthetic to the table…. streamlined and classic. It was time for silver, crystal and china.

I’m a fortunate recipient of family silver, crystal and china from multiple generations of both my family and my husband’s family.
Many of these lovely pieces were rarely used, but I use them often and have learned…. no matter the age, no matter the value, classic pieces work together.

The inexpensive mercury glass pumpkin was the outlier, but once combined with my mother in law’s crystal,

my mother’s vintage bone china set with my new china,

family flatware mixed with estate sale soup spoons,

contemporary champagne flutes, grocery store flowers and greenery in Julep cups,

the table set the stage for good friends, good food and spirited conversation.

Thankfully table setting etiquette has relaxed over the years paving the way for personal style, and creativity, but one thing is certain……… laying the groundwork with a few timeless pieces will always put you a step ahead of seasonal trends 😊
